Fall times are here

I was able to get this cardigan on Black Friday for $10.00. Dress Barn was having a sale where some of their sweaters were on sale for only $10.00, (of course I couldn't resist). They had a couple of different colors, but I was drawn to this burnt orange sweater. I'm still searching through my closet for more outfit combinations to wear this with, but I couldn't wait to show off my first outfit. I love comfortable outfits like this one!

What is your "go-to" style when you want a comfortable outfit?

Game Day

Please excuse my delay in posts as we were having internet issues yesterday. I will also be in South Carolina soon and will not be posting anything until I get back (on Tuesday).

So I'm not a huge sports fan, but I do watch the NFL. I grew up with one of those families that brainwashed all of the family members into loving the same football team. Now that I live so close to FedExField I finally feel close to the Redskins team. It's nice to go out and be surrounded by fellow fans instead of being the only one who supports my team.

I hope you like my "game day" outfit. Please excuse the lousy pictures, I took them AFTER the game. We went out an hour and a half BEFORE the game even started to get seats at BWW's. You think that it was too early to go out? So did I, but about ten minutes after we arrived, there were no seats left.  We were there for 5 hours, hence the grossness of these pictures.

How do you dress for game day?

Shirt: The Redskins Store (the is a real store in the mall, lol)
Pants: Old Navy
Flats: Payless
Earrings: Forever 21
Belt: Target

Announcement: there is another clothing swap coming up in February. If you are in the Northern VA or MD area, check out the web page for the swap. Make sure you RSVP now as the swap fills up quickly. I'd love to see you there!

The green team strikes again!

Before I started this blog, I had very little green in my closet. (When you look in it, it still seems like there isn't very much). However, I feel like I'm always having to come up with a clever title for my green outfits. It's okay though, because I really like the color!

This shirt is another one of my finds from the clothing swap. At first I wasn't sure if the bright green color would work with my skin tone, but I find that it pairs nicely with my porcelain white skin and reddish hair.

How about this necklace? This is the necklace that I got at Express during their black Friday 50% deal. I was struggling with the idea of paying full price for this necklace, but I was able to score the last one in the store during the sale. $40 for a necklace isn't really a bad deal, but I'm working with a (very) limited budget so $40 is a lot for me right now.

Do you have a color that takes over your closet?

Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow

I woke up this morning feeling better than yesterday, but still crummy. So you get another outfit from last week. This dress is very, very old. I've had it for at least 6 years, and I got it from Plato's closet so who knows how old it really is. This dress is proof of why I hate to clean out my closet. Sure I didn't wear it for a year, but now I am. I love to go "shopping" in my own closet and to pull out items that I may have been neglecting. I kept skipping over this dress because it is so dang on short. Then I had the brilliant idea to pair it with tights.

Lesson from this story? When in doubt, put on tights.

Dress: Express
Tights: Target (they always have tights for sale!)
Boots: Charlotte Russe  (Like this pair right now)
Necklace: Express (similar here, here, and here)
The belt came with a sweater.

And I'm loving this pair of TOMS right now.

Winey Pants

Our building had a wine and cheese pairing last night. It was put on by our local grocery store that specializes in organic and local foods. The pairings were spot on, and I wanted to eat all of the yummy cheeses that were offered. I mean all as in the entire quantity that was brought because they were so tasty. It was a lot of fun meeting people that live in our building, and we met a lot of people that were our age! (YAY!)

On another note....I am sick today. I am not sick from last night though! I promise!  I woke up this morning feeling like a ton of bricks. It feels kind of like the flu, but I'm hoping that it's a 24 hour thing. I hope to be back up and running as normal tomorrow. (I'd rather be normal tonight as the town center is having a special holiday tree lighting that I was looking forward to attending.) Ugh. I'm going back to bed now.

Another Clothing Swap Outfit

Yup, this is another shirt from the clothing swap. It had a pattern so I picked it up from the clothing pile at the swap. I wasn't sure if I was going to really like this shirt, but I figured that I might as well try to to make it work. My first instinct was to pair the shirt with my black pants, but they were packed in the bottom of my suitcase for the Thanksgiving holiday. The man and I were going to go out on a last minute dinner date before I left town, but most of my pants were either dirty or already packed up. I saw these boots sitting in my closet and decided to pair them with this outfit.
BAM!

I just needed to add a necklace and this outfit was made. I am still loving my "new clothes" from the clothing swap.

Shirt: Liz Claiborne (from the clothing swap)
Pants: Old Navy
Boots: JcPenny

This necklace is old and I can never remember where it from, but here is a nice alternative.

Tunics

I am loving my "new" clothes from the clothing swap that I recently attended. While these items are not new items, they are new to me, and I am having fun working them into my closet. I wore many of these outfits over the holidays, and I did not get a single picture. This just means that I get to wear these same outfits again (Yay for easy outfits right?).

When I was at the swap, I saw this tunic getting passed over by person after person. It was in the Large clothing section, but when I picked it up I noticed that it wasn't a shirt but rather a tunic. It was definitely NOT a large either. Once I picked it up and decided that it fit me and would work as a tunic, people started coming up to me and asking if I really wanted it because they would take it if I didn't. I knew that I had scored an awesome item when the ladies kept trying to get this tunic from me. The lady who had brought this tunic saw me trying it on and came over to "wish me luck" with it. She said that she loved the pattern on it, but could never make it work in her wardrobe. I was (and still am) so grateful that she no longer wanted this item!

If I owned cognac boots, then I would most likely have paired them with this outfit. Since I do not own them, I decided that brown boots would do the trick. The day was oddly warm so I did not need a heavy jacket for this outfit. I also found this outfit to be very comfortable while I ran around town like a crazy person. How did life become so busy over the weekend??

While I was on a household errand, a lady stopped me to tell me how much she liked this outfit. I love it when people stop me to compliment me on something that I'm wearing or what not. Seeing as I love this to happen to me, I try to do the same to others. You never know how you might be able to brighten someone's day!

Tunic: From the clothing swap: I have no idea where this is from as there is no tag it in and I've never seen it anywhere before!
Tights: Target
Boots: Candies from Khol's
Necklace: Express
Earrings: I honestly do not remember where these came from
Belt: Express
