Minty Leopard

Okay I'll admit it, this outfit idea was taken from a blog that I like to follow, Mix and Match Fashion. However these pants are really capri pants and the weather was not warm enough for my ankles to show. I would have paired them with my pink toed flats that I wore in the outfit post from yesterday (if it weren't so dang cold!).

So expect to see this outfit again (except with different shoes). I'm thinking that it will look like a whole new outfit!

I also had my post titled, but when I looked at the blog page of the outfit that I recreated, I noticed that we had similar title posts. Oops.

I'm sorry, that is all of the text that you get from me today. But I hope that you aren't really looking at this blog for the text. ;)

Since I've Been Gone....

Let's talk about how I haven't blogged all month......do I need to say anymore? I don't know about you, but the month of March has flown by so quickly for me. I feel like Valentine's Day was just last week, but now it's Easter. WHAT?! Between work, family, sickness, house hunting, and going out of town, I haven't had a lot of spare time.

I barely even took any photos of the clothing that I've been wearing, and I've come up with some cute outfits recently too! Now that I've gone through my "blogger hiatus", I will be back! (Although there have been a few nights where I stay in my scrubs until I put on my Pj's and go to bed. It happens).

Here is an outfit that I wore to work recently. One of my family members were getting rid of some old clothes in their closet, and they gave me the bag of clothes for the next clothing swap that I plan on attending. As I was sorting through the clothes, I noticed these brown cords. Since I don't own any brown pants, much less any cords, I decided to let this pair hang out in my dresser for a while, instead of sitting in a clothing swap bag.

I still can't believe that I almost got rid of this teal sweater. I had not worn it in at least a year because I didn't like the gaps that would appear between the buttons. (It had been doing this since the day that I bought it, even when I was a couple pounds smaller.) Then after pouring through countless fashion blogs and learning how to re-work a wardrobe, I learned that I could unbutton this sweater and make it work with all sorts of tank tops under it. Now it is a staple in my closet!

Blue, Gray, and Orange...

This outfit was based on the fact that I had worn my tan pants from Old Navy 100,939 times in February. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration. That would be a lot of clothing changes each day.

I decided that I needed to wear a different pair of pants. And that's the story about why I'm wearing these pants.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Break it up

I got this sweater from Target during the fall season on sale. I was in a relaxed mood when I got dressed, hence the baggy, comfortable sweater. I added the long white tank to break up the outfit a little bit. Otherwise the whole look is a little too dark for me.

Okay, so now that I made a post about how my enthusiasm to shop has been curbed.....I have the urge to shop. I blame the fun spring lines that are out everywhere. And the Target catalog that was mailed to my house with a coupon in it specifically for clothes.

Fighting crime

I can't tell you how happy I am to have found this lavender cardigan at the latest clothing swap. I had been wanting this exact color for some time, but I really haven't been shopping (for myself) lately. (Online doesn't count, lol). Since I started going to these clothing swaps, I don't have the want to go shopping as much as I use to. Since I've been able to come home with a load of "new" clothes, I've been having fun styling these items instead of focusing on what is in the stores. Now, that being said, I do like looking at the catalogs that I receive either via e-mail or snail mail. Hence a recent post about Dress Barn and their new spring line.

This is the outfit that I wore over the weekend when my cousin and I went to the Crime and Punishment museum in D.C. While we had a blast at the museum, we were not there nearly long enough to really see everything. We also did a "lab", which I highly recommend! We had planned on being there for a while, but were limited to 4 hours because of the stinking metro. I understand that it is easier to do the work on the rail system on the weekends instead of during the work week (aka rush hour). But I'm not really cool with it taking us 3 hours to get from point A to point B, including bus transfers. I guess it was an "experience", and it was good bonding time with my cousin. I would rather have spent that time in the museum. :) Okay now my non fashion rant is finished!

I wish that I owned a dark purple cardigan, but I am happy that I had this lavender cardigan to work with!

Colorful leopard with a Spring Line of Excitement

Remember how I said that I get to dress up at least once a week (at my work) now? Well here is my outfit from Monday, the day that I don't have to wear scrubs. This outfit was actually inspired by J's Everyday Fashion. Now I know that my necklace isn't a bubble necklace, nor does it match my jeans exactly, but it works. I really like her colored jeans that also match her necklace, with the addition of the leopard cardigan. I decided to throw in a little lace with my neutral shirt under the leopard cardigan. I also wore boots because my ankles can't handle the cold just yet.

AND...let's talk about Dress Barn's new line out right now. Now I know that I've said this before, but I absolutely hate the name of this place. I mean, who really wants to by clothes from a barn? However, I can usually find some really cute clothes from this store, and their spring line is no exception. Coral and mint/teal are the stand out colors of this spring for them, and I am loving it. I'm also loving how it mirrors many popular brands out there right now that are not cheap. It's got you covered with the jewelry  (Stella & Dot bangles and necklaces) as well as lots of lace clothing,(lace dress from Francesca's Collections), and symmetrical floral clothing (Prabal Gurung for Target). (The color scheme closely resembles that of J.Crew and Express too). Now go take advantage of this spring line.

(Faux) Fur and Stripes

This is the outfit that I wore on Sunday, which was also the same day that we had to drive home. To keep my packing light, I re-wore the same pants, boots, and vest as I did on Friday. I knew that this outfit needed a pop of color, so I added my new necklace that the man bought me from Jamaica. The sweater needed an under shirt, so instead of putting the usual black or cream cami on, I decided to go with teal, (like the necklace).

I think that I have officially worn this sweater with every pair of pants that I own now. Well, not counting capri pants or shorts...

Green Team with a side of fur

The man and I were able to attend the Virginia Wine Expo this past weekend. Luckily I have family there so we had someone willing to be our chauffeur as well as a comfy bed to sleep in. If you are a lover of wines, then I'd recommend that you check out this event! It was a lot of fun, and we didn't even get to half of the vineyard's tables.

This is the outfit that I wore on Friday/ on the road to Richmond. Of course I didn't get a photo of the outfit that I wore on the day of the wine expo. But I got a photo of this outfit and the one on the ride home. Two out of three isn't toooooo bad.

Spring on the mind

I don't know what it feels like at your house, but it is COLD here. I would like it to feel warmer outside, so therefore I decided to dress in spring colors. The cardigan that I'm wearing in these photos is one of the items that I got from the clothing swap. I had just decided that I wanted a light purple cardigan right before I went to the swap, so when I saw this on one of the tables, I knew that I had to have it.

Dots and Spots

I am back from Jamacia! Woo hoo! I tried to remember to take pictures while we were there, but of course I don't have my camera cord to connect it to my computer. I never turned my phone on while we were there either as I do not have phone service there (without it costing tons of money).

If I can find time soon, I will recreate my outfits at home, to show you what I wore. Since I have been back, my days have been long (yesterday was an 11 hour work day), so I only have one outfit to show you. However I do have some good news. Once a week, I will be able to dress up instead of swearing scrubs to work! You fashionistas out there know why this makes me so happy.

The cardigan in these photos came from the clothing swap that I recently attended!

And Happy Valentine's Day!

A non-scrub outfit....finally

I actually got to wear "real" clothes on Friday last week, instead of my normal scrubs. I was so excited that I got to dress up, except that it was actually a "dress down" day. Haha. Everyone else wore blue jeans, but I needed to wear something other than normal jeans. The man definitely laughed at me for getting so excited about wearing "fun clothes".

I'm going to be on a mini vacation from Friday-Monday, so there won't be any posts. I might do a suitcase post, but I'm not really sure what I'm packing yet, so only time will tell.

Hope your week is going well so far!

Green Snakes

Okay, so there are no actual green snakes in this post. But I am wearing green and snake print pants, so the title stands.

I've been taking some pictures of my clothes for my Go Chic or Go Home page, and decided that I needed to wear this shirt ASAP. I was thinking about adding my white vest with the outfit, but that will have to be for another day.

I really liked the brightness of the shirt with the rest of the outfit , and thought that my new Francesca's necklace went perfectly with it.

Staying Warm

I love cardigans...and I pretty much only started wearing them this year. (Hence the fact that I own about three of them). Occasionally when I'm getting dressed, I focus on one item or type of clothing, and base the rest of my outfit off of that. This outfit was based on the patterned shirt, and I didn't want to wear it like I had previously. (Which was styled as a shirt with pants...very creative, I know).  I knew that I needed some layers to stay warm, so I decided to try to add a cardigan with the shirt to see if it would work.

And that is how I came up with this outfit. Very scientific, I know.
