Since I've Been Gone....

Let's talk about how I haven't blogged all month......do I need to say anymore? I don't know about you, but the month of March has flown by so quickly for me. I feel like Valentine's Day was just last week, but now it's Easter. WHAT?! Between work, family, sickness, house hunting, and going out of town, I haven't had a lot of spare time.

I barely even took any photos of the clothing that I've been wearing, and I've come up with some cute outfits recently too! Now that I've gone through my "blogger hiatus", I will be back! (Although there have been a few nights where I stay in my scrubs until I put on my Pj's and go to bed. It happens).

Here is an outfit that I wore to work recently. One of my family members were getting rid of some old clothes in their closet, and they gave me the bag of clothes for the next clothing swap that I plan on attending. As I was sorting through the clothes, I noticed these brown cords. Since I don't own any brown pants, much less any cords, I decided to let this pair hang out in my dresser for a while, instead of sitting in a clothing swap bag.

I still can't believe that I almost got rid of this teal sweater. I had not worn it in at least a year because I didn't like the gaps that would appear between the buttons. (It had been doing this since the day that I bought it, even when I was a couple pounds smaller.) Then after pouring through countless fashion blogs and learning how to re-work a wardrobe, I learned that I could unbutton this sweater and make it work with all sorts of tank tops under it. Now it is a staple in my closet!

Cream lace tank: Express
Cords: I'm not sure, they came from a family member

Colorful leopard with a Spring Line of Excitement

Remember how I said that I get to dress up at least once a week (at my work) now? Well here is my outfit from Monday, the day that I don't have to wear scrubs. This outfit was actually inspired by J's Everyday Fashion. Now I know that my necklace isn't a bubble necklace, nor does it match my jeans exactly, but it works. I really like her colored jeans that also match her necklace, with the addition of the leopard cardigan. I decided to throw in a little lace with my neutral shirt under the leopard cardigan. I also wore boots because my ankles can't handle the cold just yet.

AND...let's talk about Dress Barn's new line out right now. Now I know that I've said this before, but I absolutely hate the name of this place. I mean, who really wants to by clothes from a barn? However, I can usually find some really cute clothes from this store, and their spring line is no exception. Coral and mint/teal are the stand out colors of this spring for them, and I am loving it. I'm also loving how it mirrors many popular brands out there right now that are not cheap. It's got you covered with the jewelry  (Stella & Dot bangles and necklaces) as well as lots of lace clothing,(lace dress from Francesca's Collections), and symmetrical floral clothing (Prabal Gurung for Target). (The color scheme closely resembles that of J.Crew and Express too). Now go take advantage of this spring line.

Earrings: man I'm drawing a blank right now.

Old outfit new location

So I know that I have already worn this outfit before and blogged about it. However we are in the lovely state of South Carolina visiting some friends and the weather here is amazing. I was so excited to be able to wear short sleeves and flats again, so I decided that I'd just show you a nice repeat. Hope you have a great weekend!

Wedding Weekend!

Wedding weekend starts now!

I'm so excited for this weekend as it is my good friend's wedding weekend! Woohoo! The man and I are getting ready to head off to it in just a few minutes, but I wanted to make sure that I got one more post in before we leave. I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have to post in the next few days, so I figured that I would get at least one more in.

OOTD: Comfort

White undershirt: Old Navy (it actually has a gold neckline, hence the gold jewelry)
Green lace top: Target
Jeans: Target
Shoes:  Old Navy
Bracelets: Express, Forever 21, and Old Navy

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Weekend Getaway

I know that it is has been a while since my last update. Between seminars that the man was hosting, and the weekend getaway, I just haven't had any time to update here. My outfits over the weekend primarily consisted of workout clothing because we were always on the go. I did not both with pictures for obvious reasons.

OOTD: Sunday
Black Sweater: Charlotte Russe  (old)
Shirt: Old Navy (clearance, Sept 2012)
Jeans: Target (Sept 2012)
Belt: Target (spring 2012)
Shoes: Payless

The house that we stayed at was amazing. Not only was it huge, but it had everything you could think of. The owner also lived next door, and had so many recommendations of things to do in the area. It was a great mini vacation that needed to last longer!

OOTD: Friday

Black Sweater: Charlotte Russe (old)
Shirt: Express (old)
Jeans: Target (August 2012)
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Charming Charlie (August 2012)

I ended up only taking this necklace and a pair of earrings for jewelry because who really wears accessories for horseback riding and zip-lining?

I will try my best to post throughout the week, but this week is going to be insanely busy. I will be going out of town again soon, so hopefully I will be able to post!

Dress Up

Sometimes I like to play dress up. (Who doesn't?) The outfit that I'm wearing here is not a shirt and a skirt, but rather a dress and lace top. I've had this dress for a few years, but I've never thought to wear it as anything other than a little black dress with a colored belt. I saw this idea on a couple of fashion blogs, so I thought I'd try my hand at it. I'm still looking for a little black dress that is longer, but for now this will do.

I simply tucked the lace top under my belt, and made a shirt and skirt. This particular dress has a cow neck, so I pulled it out around the shirt and made a collar our of it.

The dress is from Plato's Closet.
Shirt: Target (summer 2012)
Necklace: Francesca's Collection
Belt: Francesca's Collection
Green ring: from a vendor at the Urbanna Oyster Festival a few years ago
Silver ring: Renaissance Festival (Sept 2012)

Who doesn't love the vendors at festivals?! I also am obsessed with Plato's Closet (if you haven't noticed by the fact that half of my clothes come from there).

Two for one

It was a rainy day here, but the man and I still had a few errands to run before we went to dinner with his family tonight. Since it was raining, I was able to wear my new rain-boots! Woohoo! They kept my feet nice and dry, and they were comfy.

Green team

It's a nice day out, not too humid (for once!). This week is tax free week (in Maryland) for school supplies and clothing, so I felt like I should participate in some investigative shopping. Well, that's what I'm calling it. I needed to go to Target for a few errands, and when I got there, I was reminded about the tax free shopping. I quickly spotted the colored jeans which I have been coveting, and decided that it wouldn't hurt to try a pair on. I was just going to wait until I went to Express tonight to check out their colored jeans (today and tomorrow the entire store is 30% off), but when I looked a the price tag of the Target jeans, I couldn't resist. Target has them for $22.99, compared to Express' normally $79.99. I'm still surprised that I only bought one pair.

The "wine" colored pair is the pair that I bought. I've been wanting a pair of jeans like this for a while now! I liked this shirt too, but I really was trying to limit my purchases.

I still like the green pair, but I wasn't in love like I was with the wine color. Maybe they will go on sale?

So here is what I actually wore for the day. I was able to score the green top from the Target in Harrisonburg, VA. I'm obsessed with lace! I had a white tank on under the green top, but I really wanted more color in my outfit today.

In the first two pictures, I opened the closet door and am actually standing in the bathroom because the light is brighter in there.

In the next two pictures I'm standing in my closet, but the light isn't very bright. I wish that you could really see the green of the shirt, it is actually very similar to my shoes, but I just couldn't capture that via camera phone.

Green lace top: Target, recent, sale rack
Under shirt: Old navy: Plato's Closet (old)
White Capri Pants: Khols (two years ago)
Green Flats: E-bay (old)
Earrings: Francesca's Collections (fairly recent)

I love Francesca's a lot. I love going to multiple stores, because they never have the same things in them. http://www.francescascollections.com/

Hopefully I will still be heading to the mall later tonight. More than likely I'll just be buying my boyfriend some shoes, but we'll see.

Currently I love the make-up line "e.l.f.". It is sold at Target, and is very inexpensive. The blush was only $3 and the eyelid primer was $2, and they both last the entire day (and evening)! So far I'm very impressed with this brand.
