Pumpkins!

Everything around here was still closed yesterday, (with the exception of the man's job). I decided to head over to the man's family home for the day, since both of his parent's were off of work and his siblings were also there. We had a fun filled day of pumpkin carving, painting, baking, and eating.

I decided to wear something that would make pumpkin carving easier. Long sleeves and lots of jewelry were not really options for pumpkin related activities.

Shirt: Dress Barn
Jeans: Target
Boots: Candies at Khol's
Belt: Charlotte Russe
*No jewelry as I knew that I'd be up to my elbows in pumpkin.

My Horse Pumpkin!

If you aren't familiar with Go Chic Or Go Home....you should be! I absolutely love this site! You can upload your clothes and outfits to this site, and see each piece separately and create ensembles with what you own. (Or items that you wished that you owned!) I have found it to be a great resource when it comes to an "orphan item" in your closet that you just can't seem to work into an outfit. You have to request an invite, or have a member invite you, but it's a great resource. I started out uploading just a few items at a time, and now I have a good majority of my clothes posted.

They have a page dedicated to a fashion trend, and right now it is colored pants. (I believe that it will soon be polka dots). I was very excited to see my photo on the homepage!

Sequins

I was actually wearing this outfit when I found the vest that I love so much (from Dress Barn). I tried it on with this outfit, and I fell in love. Plus, the vest is so soft, and I couldn't stop petting it. Is that weird? O well, I like soft and furry things.

I got this shirt a while ago from Express....love that semi-annual sale. I'm usually not a big fan of graphic prints or designs on shirt, but I like the design and style on this shirt. (Obviously or I wouldn't own it. ha).

Shirt: Express (old)
Jeans: Target
Boots: JcPennys
Belt: Target
Watch: Tissot
*Note: I am wearing a black lace tank under this shirt as it's slightly see-thru, and the sequins can be a bit itchy. I found a great (and cheap) lace tank at Forever 21 that works great under so many of my shirts. I like having a lace tank peek out of clothes instead of skin.

Black and Yellow!

So I still have power so I can still post (for now). Since the storm has everything closed (except the man's job), I am not going out, and I am not changing out of my comfy clothes. Luckily, I have outfits stored up, just waiting to be posted.

I forgot what I was doing when I wore this outfit, I just know that it was comfortable. Now I know that some people stray away from the black and yellow look because they think that it resembles a bumblebee, but I feel that if you don't overwhelm yourself in yellow, or have another color added into the mix, you don't scream "yellow jacket!!". This is one reason that I decided to add my tan jacket to the outfit.

However, if you are a Steeler's or VCU fan, black and yellow are staples in your closet! (**Note: I am not a fan of either, just wanted to throw out the sports reference to clothing.) If you are looking for a stylish way to show your team support, check out Outfit Posts. She does a great job of supporting her football team, while still looking great!

50!!

Today marks my 50th post! That means that I've made 50 outfits from my closet so far. Only 315 more outfits to go! (I want to make a year of clothing with no repeats, although it may not be on consecutive days).  I went "shopping" through my closet last week, and winterized a bunch of my dresses. (I will be doing another post on winterizing dresses again soon.) I even helped my mom work this look over the weekend. I must say, she was one hot momma! (I'll post her outfit in the winterizing dress post).

We have the "Frankenstorm" coming up the East coast, so I may not be able to post for a while. The area that I live in has underground power lines, with the exception of my building. Last time we had a storm the power went out in my apartment, but the rest of the town center was up and running. We  were able to still shower at the gym, and use the local restaurant's wi-fi and power outlets, but it's not the same as your own home.

This outfit was worn on a busy day of errands, open houses, and car issues. (My car is working again though!) Hope everyone stay safe during this storm!

I went to Dress Barn over the weekend, and fell in love with a jacket and vest. (I didn't buy anything, but I have put these items on my Christmas list!)

Renfest Overload

The man and I were able to attend the Maryland Renaissance Festival one more time before it ended for the year. Even though we had already attended once this year, we still couldn't wait to go back for more! The weather was wonderful and we had a blast. Usually we buy some sort of trinket everytime we go, and this time was no exception. The man bought me a new wooden mug (my old one is small, and he decided that I need a big one too), and then he also bought me a beautiful feather headpiece. I'm actually going to try to wear it to non-Renaissance related events because I love it so much!

Blue sweater: Dress Barn (fall 2012)
White collared shirt: Dress Barn (fall 2012)
Jeans: Express
Boots: Candies from Khol's
Earrings: Jared (May 2012)
Necklace: Maryland Renaissance Festival (2011) I received so many compliments on this while I was there! :)

My hair piece! Most people were wearing them on the top of their heads, but since mine is still new, it is very fluffy. I chose to wear mine around my bun until it "de-fluffs" a bit.

I'm not sure where this horse is a character from (he was with the Kung Fu Panda so maybe with him?), but I love horses so I had to have my picture taken with him!

My beautiful new mug! They are hand crafted by this guy, and they are all unique. We have joked that eventually we will only own wooden drink-ware.

My old mug and new mug. Now I have a coffee mug and a drinking mug! haha. The man actually saw this one first and pointed it out. I really liked the purple heartwood and he said that it reminded him of our alma mater, so he bought it for me! If you can't attend the festival, you can still order the mugs online here!

Sweater Days

I am in love with this sweater. I picked it up a few weeks ago, and I've already worn it twice. I love the texture, as well as the fit. It keeps me warm enough that I don't need a jacket while I'm running around town.     (I am wearing a jacket in the bottom picture, but I quickly found out that it was not necessary that day.) I plan on trying out my gray boots with this outfit for a different look.

I will be going out of town from Thursday-Sunday, so I doubt that I'll get any posts up on those days. More than likely, I'll just re-wear outfits that I've worn recently anyway. Hope you are having a great week!

Sweater Dress

What does one wear when going out in D.C. to a biergarten during these chilly nights? (beer garden). That was my question, and this outfit was my answer. I knew that I wanted to wear something cute, and I just didn't want to wear pants on this particular occasion. I decided to go with my sweater dress pile for an easy solution. Since I knew that we were going to be outdoors, I needed something that would keep me warm. In the past, I have found sweater dresses to be tricky to wear as they tend to keep me a little too warm. However, for this particular event, I figured that tights and tall boots would do the trick, and they did!

Sweater Dress: Express (old)
Tights: Target (this pair is old, but Target is having a sale on their tights now!)
Boots: Khol's
Belt: came with a dress from Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Charming Charlie's (August 2012, Clearance)
Feather Ring: Clementine's Boutique
Under shirt/tank: Old Navy (old)

The next two photos are of me trying to decide on which belt to wear. I still like the way that these belts look, but I think that I would like them even more if I had tan/cognac boots to wear with the outfit.

                                                         Tan

                                                           White

Both belts are from Francesca's Collections

Rainy day

Ugh what a day. I found out that I need a new car today. That is not a nice thing to hear on such a rainy, tiring day.I suppose I will need to learn how to drive stick now, since that is what the man owns (and will be our only car for now).

The outfit in today's post was not worn today, but rather last weekend. I haven't uploaded the photos from today yet, and I just don't want. Boo. I wore this went we went to a family friend's daughter's first birthday party. No we don't have children, but I love playing with my friend's babies! I always forget to not wear necklaces when I go see their babies though. (Babies like to pull on anything that they can! haha)

So I decided to go with matching shoes and shirt for this look. Some may say that it is too matchy-matchy, but I don't care. I love wearing colored shoes that really pop

Renaissance Festival

So about a month ago, I said that I would post photos of my outfit from the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Well, here they are! This outfit wasn't anything special, but it was comfortable to walk around in and had a bit of a "Gothic" feel to it. Maybe one day I will actually dress up in the Renaissance attire, but I was happy with this look instead. I hope to be going again this weekend, and if I do, I'll try to take some pictures while I'm there.

Coming Together Naturally

This outfit is brought to you by my turned around hangers. When I first started this blog, I turned all of my hangers around in my closet, and was determined to wear everything. When the end of the year rolled around, if I had not found a way to wear something, or hadn't worn it because it no longer fit, then it would be time to give it up. This is also a great way to tell which pieces of clothing you wear all of the time, and which pieces need some more love. This shirt had not yet been worn since the turning of the hangers, so I figured, why not wear it today? This is also the first time that I've ever worn these pants. They are from the clearance rack at Target, and actually need to be hemmed, but I just didn't care. They are a nice dress slack material, but resemble a dark denim wash. I liked this outfit alright, but decided to throw on a belt for a little extra pizzazz. Then when it came time to add a shoe, I went right for these booties that are the same color as the belt.

I love it when an outfit comes together in a way that I've never thought of before. I could have added more accessories, but I just wasn't feeling it. I didn't feel like messing with a necklace for the cow-neck neckline.  I did wear earrings, but I didn't take a close up picture.

Shirt: Express (old)

Winterizing a Dress

I love "shopping" in my own closet. I also love taking a piece of clothing and wearing in a way that I've never thought of before. The outfit that I'm wearing in this post is a perfect example of re-mixing my clothes. I've only worn this dress during the spring/summer, usually with my blue flats. I am in love with this dress, but it has always been a bit on the short side for me, and I'm not fan of flashing my bum to the world.

A majority of my pants were in the wash, (or desperately needed to be) so I started looking through my dresses. It was not a nice day/night, and  I was about to have one of those, "I don't have anything to wear" moments when I came across this little number. I haven't worn this dress in a while, so I figured, why not see how it pairs with leggings, boots, and a sweater?

I think turning summer dresses into winter outfits might be my new thing. :)

The back of this dress is what caught my attention in the store. I'm a sucker for open backs and lace!

It's hard to see from a far, but this dress is speckled with blue. Luckily I had a few light blue accessories to add.

Layering again

After a day of volunteering on a chilly afternoon, I needed to run around town to do a few errands, so this is what I wore.I was really tired and didn't really think about what I was putting on. Now that I'm looking at the photos, I really like what I was wearing. I'm in love with leopard, and try to wear it as often as possible.

Sweaters and boots

This outfit is in response of needing to wake up and go without time to shower or attempt to beautify my hair.  (Hence the high pony with hair twisted around it.) I'm so happy that today is actually turning out to be a nice day, in spite of the craziness that has occurred. (Cars breaking down, brunch plans being ruined, moving offices, not a lot of sleep, etc).

Now I know this sweater appears to be a dark blue or black, but it is really a dark green. I got it at Target towards the end of the summer, (? a sweater during the summer?), on the clearance rack. It is not a heavy sweater, which makes it perfect for the fall. I love sweaters, jeans, and boots for the fall. It might be a causal, easy look, but I still love it.

I love shirts with keyhole backs!

Fall day

So I had originally planned to wear this outfit at one of the "Taste of" Festivals over the weekend, but it was just too cold. Of course I wanted to wear tan knee high boots, but I don't own any, so these were next up. When I saw this shirt in the store, I felt like it screamed "fall". One thing that I like about Dress Barn is that I can wear clothes not only in the misses section, but also in the Petite section.

I ended up adding my tan jacket to keep warm against the slight chill of the day.

Burgundy Boots

I am in love with these boots. When I first saw them on display, I knew that they would be a great addition to my wardrobe. I saw them right before the big Black Friday sale, and went ahead and tried them on so that I wouldn't have to worry about the wait and hassle on Black Friday. Lets face it, the shoe section is a mad house. I don't remember why I was at the mall on Thanksgiving, (maybe it was the day before Thanksgiving), but there was a 50% off sale on all of the shoes. I figured that it was a good enough deal, so I went ahead and bought them. When I went back to the store on Black Friday, the sale was up to 70% off, and I was slightly bummed that I had not waited, but glad that I wasn't in the middle of the shoe mayhem. I said something to one of the sale associates, and she told me that she could still give me the 70% off. Obviously I was excited as I was able to get the sale, but I didn't have to worry about the madness.

Do you ever take advantage of Black Friday sales, or do you value your safety and stay at home and wait for Cyber Monday?

I love that burgundy is so hot right now, but I think that this is the only burgundy thing in my wardrobe.
