Color Pop

I'll go ahead and apologize for the horrible pictures. I know that they look pretty much like all of my other photos, but I could not get the colors to really show up. (I know that if I used an actual camera and had someone else take them in any other room than the bathroom then the pictures wouldn't be so bad). It's just me, and I can't afford my dream mirror, so this is what happens. Oh well.

I  was so excited about the new shorts that I got yesterday from Target, that I was planning my outfit all night. The man even said that he liked them! I know it's a lot, but I just couldn't wear anything with less color today. Fall is almost here, so I had to add some color before summer is officially over.

I went thrifting today, and only spent $1.06.  I went to find some jeans that I won't mind getting a little messy when I start volunteering at the local animal shelter. I was almost finished shopping without finding any jeans that fit me well, but then I spied some bins on the floor. They had a bunch of old grungy jeans for $1.00. As I got ready to put the last pair back in the bin, I noticed that they weren't messed up and were my size. I was so excited that I found a pair that fit me for $1.00! Now these won't be worn for any occasion other than volunteer work, but I was still stoked. (Is it okay to still say that?) I fell in love with a few tops, but  alas, they did not fit. Oh well, I'll wait a few weeks before I hit the thrifts shops back up.

Shirt: Express (about two years old; I'm wearing a purple undershirt with it because the shirt itself is see-thru)
Shorts: Target (August 2012, sale rack)
Shoes: Gap (Plato's closet, tags still on)
Bracelets: Coconut Island

(excuse my bulging vein please)

Target Deals

I had to run to Target today, and of course I had to *glance* through the merchandise. The sale rack was large and full of deals, so if you haven't been to your local Target recently, you should! I was able to score a pair of shorts, a sweater, a pair of jeans, and some black slacks all from the sale rack. The sweater was the only item over $9, and it was only $11. I was also loving everything that was not on the sales rack as well, but I had to be reasonable.

Outfit Of The Day

Black Tank: Target (really old)
Yellow/Gray Jacket: Target (old)  (is it called a jacket?)
White Capri Pant: Khol's
Flats: Payless
Bracelets: assortment, all gifted (I know that you can't really see them here though)

 Dressing room photo shoot:

These shorts were on the sale rack! I was drawn to the color, and you can imagine my delight when they were my size! I love the sale rack!

I will definitely have to wear something underneath this sweater, but I really liked it. The material isn't itchy and it too was on the sale rack.

I'm really disappointed that they did not have my size in the black jeans, but the season isn't over. If I can't find it any in the stores in the near future, then I guess I'll have to order them online. I liked this cardigan as well, but I felt like I had enough items for one trip. Maybe next time.

Leopard Nails

I had a chance to paint my nails (meaning I actually sat down and painted them), and I saw a little tutorial on how to do leopard nails.

Shirt: Target (spring 2012)
Shorts: JcPenny
Flats: Payless (from Plato's Closet)
Hat: Target (old, but they had them at Target this summer)

Have you ever cleaned out your closet, and then a few weeks or months later you decide you still want some of those pieces that you had cast aside? That may have happened a few times to me recently. And that's why I don't like cleaning out my closet.

However I am loving some sweaters that Target is carrying right now

Shoe Review/ Confession

Do you ever feel like all you do is run errands? It was nice to have the man around to help out with the errands, because let's face it, grocery shopping with someone else is much better than doing it by yourself! We were having dinner with his family that evening as well, so I couldn't wear my sweats out, but I wasn't going to do my errands in a dress. (Especially since it was raining off and on all day).

(PS, I wouldn't wear my sweats out normally. It may have been acceptable in college, but not anymore).

(This is suppose to be showing you the earrings. Not my jacked up phone case. haha)

Shirt: Old Navy (old, but I feel like they always have something like it is stock)
Shorts: JcPenny (old)
Flats: Payless (old)...these sure have been worn a lot lately
Earrings: Francesca's Collections (Spring 2012) (the two silver hoops are from the original piercings so I don't count those for my earrings)
Necklace: I honestly cannot remember where this came from. It's a little old (surprise surprise) but I feel like it might have come with a shirt?
Rings: gifted- old

My new shoes!

These are my new work-out shoes from DSW (New Balance).

CONFESSION:  I actually hate shopping for tennis shoes because it is usually such a hassle. One of the main reasons that I don't wear heels is because of the way that I naturally stand. My feet rotate inwards so I really stand on the arches of my feet, and therefore I am suppose to wear shoe inserts along with supporting shoes. (These are custom made inserts, not the ones by Dr. Scholls).  I obviously don't wear them with my sandals or flats, but I try to put them in my boots and similar shoes. Because of this, I have to wear tennis shoes that have sides that come up a bit higher than normal, so that my foot can fit into the shoe without the shoe pinching me. I thought that I had found a pair from Under Armor that was going to work, but the pinching occurred when I did anything other than walk. I really liked how the Under Armor shoes were so light weight, but they didn't have very good traction, and I felt like I was slipping and sliding everywhere. The sales guy at the stores tried to tell me that I didn't need my inserts because these shoes had such great support. **I have to wear my inserts when I work out or I will get horrible shin splints as well as sore knees/hips/ankles for a week if I don't.** Good try though sales guy.

Review:
Anywho, these New Balance shoes don't pinch my feet, and they have enough room for my inserts and my foot. I have a pretty normal foot, with a medium width, and they fit me really well. They also have a good grip, so I wasn't sliding all over the floor when I was working out yesterday. (yay!)

P.S.- I'm loving the Tippi Sweater from J. Crew. However I'm not sure that I can spend $55 on a sweater right now. (I'm on the cheap side and currently don't have a very large clothing budget to work with). Maybe this one that I tried one from Target wouldn't be so bad after all, since I plan on putting a button up under it anyway.

Catch up

Saturday started out pretty busy...and now it looks like it is going to rain, so I think I'll switch into my rain-boots! I'm not ready to start wearing jeans yet, but today certainly has called for them. Or maybe it's just chillier outside than I'm use to.

This outfit is pretty much a replica of this one, just a different under shirt/shoes.

Black Sweater: Charlotte Russe (old)
Shirt: Dress barn, (old) (I'm not s fan of the name, but I have found a bunch of cute clothes there)
Jeans: Express (old)
Flats: Payless, (from Plato's Closet)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (August 2012, sale rack)
Bracelets: black and gold: Express (December 2011) Gold: Forever 21( August 2012)

FROM 8-24-12
I think that it is about time to retire this shirt. The fabric just isn't what it use to be and you can tell that it has been worn a few times. I like this shirt because it is comfortable, but I think that it has done it's duty.

Shirt: Forever 21 (very old)
Shorts: JcPenny (old)
Flats: Payless (old)
Watch: Tissot (May 2012) love this watch!!

(I ended up wearing the watch in the next outfit also, but I forgot to take a picture with it. In fact, I forgot that I didn't have any jewelry on when I first took these pictures (below) and took a quick one before I walked out the door. The reason for the outfit change? The man and I were planning on going on a little date, but I went to his office to help him finish up some work beforehand. I needed something that was acceptable for the movie theater (I always get to cold in there) and a walk around town. This is what I came up with. I am the only one that makes sure that I'm wearing long pants and takes socks with me to the movies??

Shirt: Arden B. (old, from Plato's Closet)
Black Lace Tank: Forever 21 (August 2012)
Leggings: Target (old- i really need new leggings!!)
Flats: Target (old, Plato's Closet)
Belt: Came with a sweater dress (I think from dress barn??)
Necklace: Express- sometime in 2011
Rings: Purple-from the 2011 Philadelphia International Flower Show;
Silver ring on pinky finger (also worn as a midi/knuckle ring) Consignment shop in the OBX called the Loft

J.Crew has similar silver ballet flats right now!

DIY

I was able to do a little DIY on a Goodwill shirt today. I got a simple shirt in good condition from Goodwill and cut it up. :) I found the idea on Pintrest (what else?) from this blog. I'm going to look for a black lace tank to go under this as I'm way too pale to wear this without something. I didn't get any pictures from my actual outfit today, as it was annoying me and I couldn't wait to change. It was a windy day, and my dress kept trying to go all "Marilyn" on me.

Goodwill shirt plus a little lace! :) Please excuse the hair...

Royalty....nope

Sorry for the lack of updates, but the outfits have only been for babysitting esq adventures. (See the bottom of the post).

Today has been a whirl-wind, but I wanted to make a quick post before I had to run again. I love this shirt, and it was one of my Plato's Closet finds. I know that there are a few people whom turn their noses up at the thought of consignment clothes, but there really are some great deals out there. Many of the pieces that I find still have the original store tags on them. How can you beat that?

Shirt: VENUS (Plato's Closet-old)
Capri: Khol's (two years ago)
Shoes: Francesca's Collection (Spring 2012, sale)
Sunglasses: Target (Summer 2012)
Necklace: Express (2011)
Bracelet: gifted-old
Earrings: Claire's (old)
Feather Ring: Clementine (boutique in Richmond, VA)
Other Rings: gifted-old

*I really like this necklace, but it can catch on fabric very easily. This really limits what I can wear it with, but I still love it!

This is what happens when you have to baby-sit, run errands, go to the gym, and clean. The effort was just not there. I'm very sorry.

Shirt: Khols (old)
Shorts: Target (Spring 2012)
Shoes: Payless (old)

Two for one

It was a rainy day here, but the man and I still had a few errands to run before we went to dinner with his family tonight. Since it was raining, I was able to wear my new rain-boots! Woohoo! They kept my feet nice and dry, and they were comfy.

Outfit number one: Rainy Day

I wore this ring with both outfits

Black over shirt: Charlotte Russe (old)
Pink shirt: Express (old)
Jeans: Express (old)
Boots: Target (on-line only, August 2012)
Ring: Clementine (boutique in Richmond, VA)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (August 2012, sale rack)
Earrings: Francesca's Collection (summer 2012)
Bracelet: Express (December 2011)

Outfit number two: Francesca's Collection

Dress: Francesca's Collection (summer 2012)

Brunchday

I'm about to meet some friends in D.C. for brunch, and who knows what time I'll actually get home tonight. (Yes, it will be one of those all-day-into-the-evening-"brunches"). And who knows how long the warm (not scorching) days will last until fall is upon us? Using that reasoning, I decided that a dress was in order for the day(/night).

Dress: Forever 21 (Plato's Closet- OLD)
Belt: Francesca's Collection (Summer 2012)
Earrings: Francesca's Collection (Summer 2012)
Shoes: Target (Plato's Closet-OLD)
Bracelets: they are an assortment for various places, i.e. American Eagle and local shops in Staunton, VA--all old

**I just want to say that it will be a rare thing for me to wear heels.  I love the way that heels look, and how they can transform an outfit into a completed look, but I just don't wear them. I'm always searching for a comfortable pair, but the way that I naturally stand makes heels extremely uncomfortable for me. I fully support the women who wear them, especially if they find them comfortable. Heck, I even own a few pairs because they were just so pretty or necessary for a particular outfit, but rarely will you see them. (And yes, I have been know to wear heels for pictures, and then change directly into flats once the picture taking of the evening is over.) **

Minty Fresh

Today was a shopping overload day...but not for clothes for myself. It revolved around grocery shopping for the sales, as well as back to school shopping (for the middle-schooler that I was "watching". I feel like it's not babysitting when they are this old).

Anywho..I wanted to be comfy, but the forecast was calling for rain later in the day, so I wanted to make sure that whatever I was wearing would be okay if it got wet. (i.e. no white) Excuse the flip-flops, I have a blister on my pinky toe!

Wrap Shirt: Express (old)
Capri: Khols- Spring 2012 (I believe they still have them in the store):: Also, I had these tailored into capris, they were skinny jeans)
Flip-flops: Charlotte Russe (old)
Necklace: Francesca's Collections- Spring 2012 (I believe they still have this one on-line, and other colors in stores)
Bracelet: Express (Winter 2011)

RAIN BOOTS!!

I just got my new rain-boots in the mail! They are from Target (only on-line), and I love them! These are a size 7, and I can wear thick socks and my jeans with them just fine. I went to my local Target and tried on a few pairs there to see what size I should order. I'm very glad I did or I would have ordered an 8, which would have been too big. I really love the Burberry rain-boots, but I can't justify $235 boots for the rain. Instead I found these babies for $25. Maybe I'll get to wear them a little later on. :)

Wish List: New Shoes

I didn't feel like jazzing up my outfit too much today. I just wanted something comfy because I knew that I'd be walking around a bit today and trying on clothes.

(sorry so blurry)

Shirt: Express (old)
Shorts: JcPenny (May 2012)
Shoes: Gap (old)- got from Plato's closet with the tags still on them for only $9; originally $45
Rings: not sure where the ring on my middle finger came from, but the midi ring came from an upscale consignment  shop at the Otter Banks called the Loft. I actually wear it on my pinky finger a bit too.

I went back to Target and tried on the blue skinnys....they are too cute. Didn't get them yet, but I thought I should at least see what they looked like. I like the sweater too, and it was on sale and tax free, but I just don't *need* it. I know that it doesn't look very good in the picture, but it does in person. (But if it doesn't look to swell in pictures, then maybe I don't want it??)

So I *had* to buy some jewelry for my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding that is coming up. (Such a relaxed bride, I love her). While I was out, I ran into Khol's to see if they had anything in their clearance section.  If found a pair of boots (Candie's) that I really liked as well as a pair of aqua flats (SO). The boots hit right below my knee and fit well with my bare leg, but still had enough room for a pair of skinny jeans or woolly socks.

Candie's Tall Boots: Original:$99.99; sale: $78.99
color: stone

SO Flats, Original. $39.99; now $18.99
color: aqua

They were both really comfortable, but I'm having to watch what I bring home right now. However, I have neither of these styles in my closet and now I really want them both. haha. (At least I know that I'm a solid size 8 at Khol's now)
