Re-peat? I'll try not to!

I had to go out of town, so I wanted to be comfortable while still presentable. Of course driving in my sweatpants would be the most comfortable, but I always have this fear that I'll be stranded on the side of the road because my car broke down, and no one will take me seriously because of how I am dressed. I know that this thought is silly, but I do drive an old car....

** Also, I packed already worn (and previewed) outfits for my trip. I just grabbed items that I knew would work, but hopefully I can pick up a new item over the weekend to showcase. :) I feel like I'm in a rut with my clothes right now, because I want to start wearing my fall clothes, but it just isn't cold enough. However, I've already packed away a far amount of my summer stuff because it isn't quite warm enough for those items. I'm sure that soon enough, I will be begging for spring to get here as I don't tolerate the cold very well. ha.

Shirt: Express
Jeans: Target
Shoes: Old Navy
Necklace: Target (Hard to see here, but also worn here).

*I may wear these shoes more often than I should, and they may not truly go with every outfit that I pair them with. However, I love these shoes, so I am wearing them.

Oops

So I had to attend another seminar, but since I was "attending" rather than presenting, I chose to tone down the outfit a bit. (I feel like this is a trend for me! haha). I suppose that I could have worn my black slacks rather than my black jeans, but I really wasn't thinking about it until I was half-way to the seminar. Oops.

I feel like I tend to either over-dress or under-dress for functions. I need to work on this!

I finally tried out the gel nails! I've had these babies for a week now, and they have really stood up to some tough work! So they aren't as cheap as a regular manicure, but I only have two minor chips after cleaning the entire apartment. Not too shabby.

Shirt: it came from Plato's Closet, and I can't really tell where it came from originally (old)

Black, White, and Maroon

I always feel like a black shirt and colored jeans go well together. When I saw this top hanging in my "black" section of my closet, I realized that I hadn't worn it in a while. Well that was reason enough for me to wear it! Excuse the flip-flops though. It was a warm day and I was able to go casual.

Work Appropriate

So I had to dress up a bit...and I needed to keep the outfit basic. I got these pants at Dress Barn for about $20 not too long ago as they were the last pair on the clearance rack. Luckily they were my size and they are pretty comfortable. I went back to Dress Barn on Monday and they had the matching jacket on sale as well (and of course in my size). I found these pieces in two separate states on both were the last pieces in those stores....and in my size! Woohoo! I love it when that happens.

OOTD:

I know that these shoes aren't the best ones for this outfit, but I needed to be a bit toned down. I went into TJ Maxx and they had flats that PERFECTLY matched my shirt. Of course the only sizes that were in stock were one size too big and one size too small. I guess I can't win with all shopping experiences.

Pants: Dress Barn
Shoes: Payless

*The only jewelry were my simple gold studs. Like I said, I needed this outfit to be simple...

Picture Overload

There are a few pictures for this post. This past weekend was my friend's wedding in VA Beach, and I had a great time seeing all of my friends from college. The weather was beautiful all weekend, and I could not have asked for a better time.

Sorry that these are so blurry!

Shirt: Dress Barn (old)
Jeans: Target
Shoes: Old Navy
Belt: Target
Jewelry: Dress Barn (old)

Dress: Express (old)
Belt: Express (old)
Jacket: Target (Sept 2012)
Shoes: Payless

Sweater: Khol's (August 2012)

This was how I had originally planned on wearing this dress this past weekend. The evening as a whole wasn't very chilly, so I decided to wear the tan jacket instead of the black sweater.

Wedding fun! Excuse the messy room, we used the living room portion of the suite as our dressing area.  The wedding as a whole was peacock-themed. Purple and teal were the main colors, with a touch of silver thrown in.

Heels: Payless (Sept 2012) (I know, I wore heels! But they didn't stay on the whole night.)
Jewelry: Charming Charlies (August 2012)

I had my hair and make-up done for the wedding, because, why not?! The make-up artist insisted on putting falsies on me, which was not something that I had ever experienced before. While they looked great, I could not get them off. I didn't take any eye make-up remover with me because I took my make-up remover towelettes instead. Well that did not work at all! She applied a bunch of the little lashes by attaching them to my eyelashes. Well now even after using eye make-up remover they still won't come off! Ah! Any tips? Hopefully they will come off soon.

Raining on my head

So the other day we had a tornado watch for a majority of the day. Needless to say, it was raining for most of the day. This meant that I got to pull out my rain boots! Now I know that the boots have pink stripes and my shirt has red stripes, but I just didn't care. I did however receive a lot of compliments on my boots, as everyone else's feet were getting wet. So far I'm very happy that I invested in some rain-boots.

When the warning finally subsided and the rain ceased, I switched to my black flats.

Red striped Shirt:Target (old)
Black sweater: Charlotte Russe
Jeans: Express
Boots: Target (on-line)
Necklace: Express

Can you tell that I love this little sweater? I feel like it has made an appearance in half of my posts. I suppose that I need to go out and get something similar to it so I don't wear it out.

Wedding Weekend!

Wedding weekend starts now!

I'm so excited for this weekend as it is my good friend's wedding weekend! Woohoo! The man and I are getting ready to head off to it in just a few minutes, but I wanted to make sure that I got one more post in before we leave. I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have to post in the next few days, so I figured that I would get at least one more in.

OOTD: Comfort

White undershirt: Old Navy (it actually has a gold neckline, hence the gold jewelry)
Green lace top: Target
Jeans: Target
Shoes:  Old Navy
Bracelets: Express, Forever 21, and Old Navy

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

What to wear?

Do you ever have a day when your problem isn't that you don't have anything to wear, but rather you have plenty to wear, but nothing feels "right"? I tried on several outfits that I had put together in my head the day before, but I just didn't "feel" like wearing them. I liked how the outfits looked, but I just didn't want to wear them. I shuffled image after image into my memory bank for another day, and finally decided on this outfit. It isn't anything flashy or special, but it just felt "right" so I decided that it was a keeper.

Shirt: Express (old)
Jeans: Target (August 2012)
Flats: Old Navy (Sept 2012)
Scarf: Target (August 2012)
Bracelet: Old Navy (Sept 2012)
Necklace: Khol's (old)
Purple ring: His or Her Spa in Richmond VA
Silver ring: Renaissance Festival (Sept 2012)
Pinky Ring: The Loft (consignment shop) at the Outer Banks

*I took the scarf with me, but the night wasn't very chilly, so it never made an appearance other than the photo above. I know it will come out in the very near future though!*

Mash-up

So this post is a bit of a mash-up. I I only have one outfit to show off, and it is actually an old outfit, (from the beginning of summer). Two of these pictures are from my old place, so obviously not current.

Shirt: Express
Mint Capri pants: Khol's
Necklace: Francesca's Collection
Sunglasses: Target

The man's parents got me this purse a while a go. I'm obsessed with horses, and always have been. I have no idea where it came from, but I am in love with it. I wore it for the majority of spring and most of summer, but I figured that I needed to work some other bags into the mix.

My mom needed to go shopping for some new work clothes not too long ago, and needed a shopping buddy, (it's so much more fun when you have a partner), so she invited me to go along. This was my haul after a day of shopping. Yes, those are Popsicle molds on the couch.
Jacket: Target
Leopard Top: Dress Barn
Sweater: Nordstrom Rack
Black Jeans: Target
Purse: Dress Barn (got this baby for $6 because of sales)

I was reorganizing my closet at my last place. I loved this closet because I didn't have to sort out winter and summer clothes. I try my best to keep my closet organized at all times. I try to keep everything color coordinated by sleeve length and type of clothing. Not too long ago, I turned all of my hangers around in my closet. Now after I wear something, I turn the hanger back around the "normal way" so that I will try not to wear it again for a little while, unless I can re-style it.

Do you have any special way that you organize you closet?

Crazy Animal

So as I was trying on this outfit, I realized that I need tan boots. I have tan "Uggs" but they were not really appropriate with this outfit. I really wanted to wear boots but I wasn't feeling the dark brown boots at this time. It wasn't really a cold night so I opted for flats, but I wore simple black flats. If I wore heels, I probably would have gone with nude heels, but I had a lot of D.C. walking to do, so comfy black flats it was. (Sorry, I did not get a picture).

I like this shirt because of the neckline. I don't have to wear a necklace as the collar is fancy. I took these pictures to see which shoes I should wear, and never thought about taking pictures of my actual outfit. I'm sure this outfit will make another appearance soon though. I really liked it and might have to re-wear an outfit  within a week or two. Oops.

Shirt: Dress Barn (Sept 2012)
Black Jeans: Target
Leopard flats: Old Navy (Sept 2012)
Brown Boots: Khol's (old, from the man, many Christmas's ago. He did a good job!  I knew that I should keep him around if he could buy me boots and in my size after only dating for a month. )

Weekend Getaway

I know that it is has been a while since my last update. Between seminars that the man was hosting, and the weekend getaway, I just haven't had any time to update here. My outfits over the weekend primarily consisted of workout clothing because we were always on the go. I did not both with pictures for obvious reasons.

OOTD: Sunday
Black Sweater: Charlotte Russe  (old)
Shirt: Old Navy (clearance, Sept 2012)
Jeans: Target (Sept 2012)
Belt: Target (spring 2012)
Shoes: Payless

The house that we stayed at was amazing. Not only was it huge, but it had everything you could think of. The owner also lived next door, and had so many recommendations of things to do in the area. It was a great mini vacation that needed to last longer!

OOTD: Friday

Black Sweater: Charlotte Russe (old)
Shirt: Express (old)
Jeans: Target (August 2012)
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Charming Charlie (August 2012)

I ended up only taking this necklace and a pair of earrings for jewelry because who really wears accessories for horseback riding and zip-lining?

I will try my best to post throughout the week, but this week is going to be insanely busy. I will be going out of town again soon, so hopefully I will be able to post!

Dress Up

Sometimes I like to play dress up. (Who doesn't?) The outfit that I'm wearing here is not a shirt and a skirt, but rather a dress and lace top. I've had this dress for a few years, but I've never thought to wear it as anything other than a little black dress with a colored belt. I saw this idea on a couple of fashion blogs, so I thought I'd try my hand at it. I'm still looking for a little black dress that is longer, but for now this will do.

I simply tucked the lace top under my belt, and made a shirt and skirt. This particular dress has a cow neck, so I pulled it out around the shirt and made a collar our of it.

The dress is from Plato's Closet.
Shirt: Target (summer 2012)
Necklace: Francesca's Collection
Belt: Francesca's Collection
Green ring: from a vendor at the Urbanna Oyster Festival a few years ago
Silver ring: Renaissance Festival (Sept 2012)

Who doesn't love the vendors at festivals?! I also am obsessed with Plato's Closet (if you haven't noticed by the fact that half of my clothes come from there).

Clothes, Clothes, Everywhere!

It's another multiple outfit post! Woohoo! I'm going out of town this weekend, and I've been running outfit ideas through my head. Does anyone else plan their outfits out for their trips? I won't be dressing up as most of the activities will be outside, but I still can't wait!

I'll go ahead a say that the boater shoes that I'm wearing a very comfy, hence why I'm wearing them over and over again.

Shirt: Polo (last season)
Capri's: Khol's
Shoes: Francesca's Collection

My new Tippi Sweater!

Shirt: Arden B. I think that I am going to say goodbye to this one. (old, from Plato's)
Shorts: JcPenny
Shoes: Francesca's Collection

Green shirt: my DIY shirt from Goodwill
Jeans: Express
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: Francesca's Collection
Bracelets: American Eagle

I really like this pair of pants from Old Navy. I don't own any bottoms in a tan or khaki color, so I think that I might have to go back for them, but the price tag is a little higher than I would normally pay for Old Navy.

On another note, the shirt that I have on in this picture was only $3.14 because it was 30% off the already on sale price.

Multiple OOTD

September has started with a bang, and shows no sign of slowing down until the month it over. I'm going to try my best to take pictures and post them, but I might have to post a couple of days at a time.

I went to J. Crew today to try on the Tippi sweater, because I wasn't sure what size I wear there. I quickly could tell that I haven't shopped in a nice store in quite some time, as I loved how attentive the sale associate was. Thrift shops and Target don't have someone walking around the store with you, helping you determine you size and what colors work best on you. The color sweater that I wanted was already on-sale in the store, but it was also an extra $10 cheaper on-line. I loved that J.Crew honored the on-line price, and I was able to get the sweater for 50% off! I think that I might need to start shopping a bit more in these types of stores now. :)

Thursday OOTD:

Sweater: The Loft (old)
Shorts: Target (August 2012)
Flats: Francesca's Collection

I have had this shirt for a few years now (I purchased it sometime in college), and I still get compliments on it! I also bought it at the clothing consignment shop, Plato's closet. I love shops like that because there are usually some great deals hidden within the racks of clothes.

Friday OOTD:

Shirt: VENUS (Plato's closet, old)
Pants: Khol's, spring 2012 (I had them tailored into capri pants)
Shoes: Old Navy
Watch: Tissot (May 2012)
Necklace: Target (old)
You can't see my earrings, but they are simple diamond studs, that I love because the man got them for me for Christmas one year. :)
I'm not sure where the ring is from, but I know I got it in high school. (so over 7 years old)

My new ring from the Renaissance festival!
( I'll post my outfit from this day later.)
