I'm back!....sort of

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

I know that it's been awhile since I've posted anything, but  life has been crazy! I feel like we've been working nonstop on the new house, yet there are still boxes to be unpacked, and walls to be painted. Unfortunately I don't have a summer-ish clothing photo, or a patriotic one to post, but I do have an outfit that I'm obsessed with.

I fell in love with this leopard print dress from Express back during their winter sale. One day when I was playing around in my closet, (because sometimes I like to go "shopping" in my own closet), I discovered this little ensemble. I still can't believe that I almost put this sweater in the "clothing swap pile". This skinny white belt also almost went into that pile as well....which is why I advocate YOU to shop YOUR closet.

The leggings obviously make this particular outfit a winter style, but I still love the look. I don't know about your work, but mine is always kept in an "artic chill zone", so this kind of style works perfectly. (On the days when I can wear "real" clothes instead of scrubs).

ALSO!!!!

I just started a "part-time" job selling some amazing products that really work! While there is a whole slew of products, the ones that I'm really excited about are the wraps. These wraps help to detoxify your fat cells, which shrink the cells. If you have a problem area (like I do!), and just can't seem to make any improvement, then these wraps are for you! It doesn't seem to matter how hard I work out, or how well I eat, I just can't seem to change the way that my thighs look.  I will post my personal pictures soon, but for now, please check out my website at amandacasella.itwork.com. If you have any questions, please contact me, and I'll answer you! These wraps are great for your tummy, thighs, arms, butt, neck...you name it!

Swappin' them Clothes

It's that time of year again.....for a clothing swap! I'm so happy that they have been holding these swaps almost quarterly, rather than twice a year. Since I'm a girl on a budget, these swaps really help me expand my wardrobe for only $5.00. (It also helps me keep my closet clear of items that I'm not wearing).

This past swap was a little bit different as they changed the venue to a high school's cafeteria, and had enough room for 300 swappers. (Yup, that's right, 300....there were so many clothes). This swap also had a $5.00 entrance fee....which let's face it, is a steal of a deal for clothes. Half of the money went towards the school's debate team and the other half went towards making the group a non-profit. If you are in the DMV area, (DC, Maryland, Northern VA), then check out Frugal Fashionista's clothing swaps! I won't be able to attend the next swap (June 15th), because of a family vacation, but I encourage you to look into it. If you aren't in the DMV area, I still suggest that you check out Meetup.com and look for clothing swaps in your area. I love this site because while it can be a dating website, it is more of a social site that connects people with similar interests.

This is the outfit that I wore to the latest clothing swap. The dress that I'm wearing actually came from my very first swap. Under the dress, I'm wearing a black tank top and black leggings...to make trying on clothes in a room full of people easier. There were some girls who were stripping down to their "small clothes", but I'm just not comfortable doing that in a room with 300 people.

I had this white belt on at first, but I wasn't loving the look. My original plan was to wear gray leggings, but I felt like they were too see-through to wear once the dress came off.

I went to the swap with two friends, and this is our haul. I was halfway to the swap, and realized that I forgot to bring my beach bag for carrying all of my clothes! (Hence the garbage bag).  I was being proactive for this swap, and I had all of the clothes pre-sorted into small bags according to size. I won't forget my bag on the next round!

I was able to get two pairs of shoes from the swap....however I didn't take any out of my closet before the swap. Oops, now I'm short on space! Lol. The gold glitter pair of flats are brand new!

Here is my pile of clothing from the swap. It entails 2 pairs of shoes, 1 dress, one short dress/long shirt, 1 skirt, 3 shirts, 2 cardigans, 1 summer vest, 1 bracelet, and 1 necklace.

I forgot to mention that there were raffle prizes at this swap too! Multiple businesses donated items and gifte cards to the swap. Since my crew and myself were there early, we each scored two gift cards (one to a local jewelry store and the other to JustFab.com). All three of us actually won a prize from the raffle tickets as well.

This is the necklace that I won from the raffle. One of my friends won a necklace and a bracelet, and my other friend won a loose ruby valued at $600. Yes, you did read that correctly....and she was so excited.

The beautiful bracelet that I picked up at the swap. I couldn't believe that someone gave this up. It had a pink "sister" bracelet, but I gave it to one of my friends as I already have a pink bracelet and she didn't have any yet.

I have been wanting a long turquoise necklace for some time now. The man bought me a beautiful short turquoise necklace while we were in Jamaica, and now I have a longer version.

You might be wondering how in the world I can gather a minimum of 5 pieces of clothing and 2 accessories from my own closet for each swap. Well I'll share my little secret. Sometimes the items that I get from a swap don't work in my closet, no matter how hard I try. These items go back into my "swap pile".

Another way that I get items together is by helping others clean out their closets. Is it cheating? Maybe....but it's for a good cause. Any time that I hear of someone who is getting ready to clean out their closet, or already has done the deed, but hasn't donated their clothes yet, I try to get them to give me their clothes. Most people don't have a problem doing this since they were planning on already giving their clothes away.

I typically roll into the swaps with multiple bags of clothing and accessories by doing these things, and I usually walk out with less than I brought. However, since the clothes haven't all come straight from my own closet, it works out. The more clothing that we all bring in, the more clothing there is to go around!

Earlier I said that I did not take any shoes out of my own closet for the swap, so I didn't have any room in my closet for the new pairs of shoes. You may think, "That's not fair, you shouldn't take shoes if you didn't put any into the pile"....except that I did. I put shoes into the shoes pile for the swap...they just so happened to come from some else's closet. LOL.

I also try to look for items for the individuals that donate their clothes to me. I figure that getting them one item in return for the BAG of clothes that they gave me is the least that I can do.

If you live in the DMV area, please sign up for the next clothing swap! I'd love to meet up with you! (After the June swap that is). And there are also plus size clothing swaps for those that are XXL and over.

RANDOM

Okay....so this post contains a few random outfits that I have photos of, but I didn't do an outfit post on.

This is my new dress from Dress Barn, and I have worn it at least three times since I bought it. I love a good maxi dress, and this cardigan was a perfect cover up for chilly evenings. I love how comfortable this dress is!
Stella & Dot Bracelets, Khol's cardigan

My alma mater made it to March Madness, and I was so proud! Now we didn't get very far, but I was/am still proud nonetheless.

The man's family bought me this green tank while they were on a weekend vacation, so I decided to wear it (Because who doesn't love wearing new clothes?) Please excuse the TRASHCAN next to me in this photo.

Let's just say that I love this dress. It is from Francesca's collections, (so is the belt).

So that's just a few photos for ya. Hope you enjoyed them.

Leopard-ness

What an exhausting week it has been, and it is only Tuesday. This is an outfit from house hunting....which I am getting more frustrated with everyday.

Enjoy my "walk on the wild side" outfit.

Coral Pops

For This particular outfit, I was going for the monochromatic look. However I felt like I needed some color, so I decided to add my new coral bracelet and necklace.

I absolutely love getting new accessories! I love the way that a fun bangle or a statement necklace can really transform an outfit. I'm also loving half of  the jewelry at Dress Barn right now. And J.Crew.

I kind of wish that I had a closet full of jewelry.

Minty Leopard

Okay I'll admit it, this outfit idea was taken from a blog that I like to follow, Mix and Match Fashion. However these pants are really capri pants and the weather was not warm enough for my ankles to show. I would have paired them with my pink toed flats that I wore in the outfit post from yesterday (if it weren't so dang cold!).

So expect to see this outfit again (except with different shoes). I'm thinking that it will look like a whole new outfit!

I also had my post titled, but when I looked at the blog page of the outfit that I recreated, I noticed that we had similar title posts. Oops.

I'm sorry, that is all of the text that you get from me today. But I hope that you aren't really looking at this blog for the text. ;)

Colorful leopard with a Spring Line of Excitement

Remember how I said that I get to dress up at least once a week (at my work) now? Well here is my outfit from Monday, the day that I don't have to wear scrubs. This outfit was actually inspired by J's Everyday Fashion. Now I know that my necklace isn't a bubble necklace, nor does it match my jeans exactly, but it works. I really like her colored jeans that also match her necklace, with the addition of the leopard cardigan. I decided to throw in a little lace with my neutral shirt under the leopard cardigan. I also wore boots because my ankles can't handle the cold just yet.

AND...let's talk about Dress Barn's new line out right now. Now I know that I've said this before, but I absolutely hate the name of this place. I mean, who really wants to by clothes from a barn? However, I can usually find some really cute clothes from this store, and their spring line is no exception. Coral and mint/teal are the stand out colors of this spring for them, and I am loving it. I'm also loving how it mirrors many popular brands out there right now that are not cheap. It's got you covered with the jewelry  (Stella & Dot bangles and necklaces) as well as lots of lace clothing,(lace dress from Francesca's Collections), and symmetrical floral clothing (Prabal Gurung for Target). (The color scheme closely resembles that of J.Crew and Express too). Now go take advantage of this spring line.

Just another OOTD

This outfit was based on one of those days wear you want to wear one specific item. That item was the orange cardigan, and I decided that adding a patterned tank with it would make a pretty good outfit. I also decided that I wanted to go sans-boots and went straight for my flats. HOWEVER, it was really really cold and I ended up wearing my brown boots. (After I ran a bunch of errands around town and I thought that my ankles were going to fall off.)

Moral of the story: it's not flats season yet.

Leopard, black, and purple

I'm not going to lie, wearing scrubs to work everyday makes me cry a little bit every morning when I get dressed. Okay, maybe that is a lie. I don't cry *every* morning. Come to think of it, almost every job that I've ever held had either some sort of dress code (as is uniform) or required scrubs or jeans (because you don't dress up when you work on a farm).

The only time that I got to play dress up for work was when I was a P.A. for a loan officer while I was looking for an actual job. Darn.

Well, at least I will be interacting more with patients soon, so wearing scrubs won't be so bad. (Let's face it, I don't want to bring blood and what not home on my nice pretty clothes.)

I have a feeling that life will stay busy, giving me reason to dress in fun clothes....as long as I have time to go home and change first.

This is one of my many house hunting outfits. I probably haven't called the others"house hunting" clothes, but that's not really important.

I was going to originally going to wear the leopard shirt with black pants, but I wanted to try to stick to the "rule-of-three". Since I do not own any bright cardigans, I decided to keep the cardigan black and the pants brights. Yup.

I decided to go sans necklace and bracelets with this outfit. The shirt actually ties at the top, and I felt like a necklace made it too busy. I was also in a fuss-free mood and didn't feel like dealing with a lot of accessories. Yeah,  life is just so rough.

Leopard and Wine

This leopard cardigan is another item that I got at the clothing swap that I attended. I have worn it this way a few times, and I have also worn it with my black jeans and a colored shirt under it. I really like how versatile this cardigan can be, and of course, I love the leopard. The outfit that I am wearing in these photos is actually what I wore on Thanksgiving, I just never took any pictures of it.

I have some great news.....I am starting a new job soon! (yay!) However, I will be wearing scrubs to work, so I have a feeling that I won't be posting my outfits as often on this blog. I will be able to wear nail polish, so maybe I'll start trying to do fun things with my nails to make up for my lack of outfit creativity. I am very excited to start my new job, but I am sad that I won't be wearing fun clothes as much anymore. Because I'll be honest, after a day of work, I usually like to come home and put sweat pants on. Lol.

Animal Instinct

Some days, you just have to take a walk on the wild side. And by this I mean wear an animal print with a touch of color. The color that I'm loving right now? Burgundy...hence the boots that I'm wearing in this outfit.

One thing that I really like about this shirt is the necklace. It has a jewel embellishment around the necklace, so there this no need to wear a necklace. Sometimes I just don't feel like getting all dolled up and worrying about accessories, so shirts like this come in handy.

I personally think that one of the hottest trends for fall this year is the combination of leopard and burgundy. These styles compliment each other so well that it's hard to not wear them together everyday.

Do you have a favorite fall trend?

Army Green and Black Jeans

This outfit was inspired by the lovely Pintrest. Now I know that I've worn my chambray shirt and black jeans with my leopard shoes recently, but this is the fall version of this outfit. When I saw this picture of Bar Refaeli, I knew that I had all of the pieces, and I couldn't wait to replicate it. I love it when I find an inspiration outfit that I own the pieces to make it my own. For more inspiration outfits, make sure you check out my Pintrest page!

(Haha yes, I got this from someone who was cleaning out their closet, and gave me first dibs before they made a trip to Goodwill. I really liked the color and didn't have anything like it in my closet, so I nabbed it.)

Layering again

After a day of volunteering on a chilly afternoon, I needed to run around town to do a few errands, so this is what I wore.I was really tired and didn't really think about what I was putting on. Now that I'm looking at the photos, I really like what I was wearing. I'm in love with leopard, and try to wear it as often as possible.
