Purple and Black

Please excuse my absence over the past week. I spent the week with my family in Virginia, and never got around to unpacking my computer to post any new blog entries. In fact, I didn't even take any pictures of my outfits while I was there. (WHAT?!?) The lack of pictures was not because I did not have any cute clothes to wear. It was because I just didn't feel like going through the motions while my whole family was there. I enjoyed spending time with them, and forgot about my computer altogether for a few days.

So the pictures that I do have are from over a week ago. I actually got the same sweater that I am wearing in this post for Christmas, but in royal blue. I've already worn it, but I suppose that I get to wear it again since there is no photographic proof. :)

Many of my Christmas presents were clothes, so you can expect to see them make an appearance on this blog in the near future!

I'm still not sure what I'm wearing tonight (New Year's Eve). The man and I are going over to his brother's house for a small get-together, so I have no need to dress fancy-like. I still have a few hours to decide what I am actually going to wear. haha.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!

Summer dress during the Winter

During the summertime, I love throwing on a fun little dress and wearing it around town. Since the man and I live above restaurants, we like to go out a few times a week whether it's for drinks, a meal, or dessert. I have a firm belief that you should always try be overdressed rather than under-dressed, so I usually lean towards my dresses when I'm deciding on what to wear. I swear that I always get at least one compliment on my outfit, simply because of my dress.

Obviously I'm not going to be running around town with bear legs this time of year, so I've been having to winterize my outfits. I tend to not wear dresses as much as I do in the summer, but I still like having the option to wear a dress.

For this outfit I simply added a pair of leggings and my colored boots for a winterized dressy outfit. I've also worn this dress with maroon leggings and gray boots, as well as brown legging with these burgundy boots for a slightly different look.

Purple and Green

If you look at these photos, you will see that I'm wearing two sweaters. I always wear the light green sweater over a green tank, and decided that I needed to switch it up. I took a look through my closet and noticed that the purple sweater was on a backwards hanger (meaning that I had not worn it yet) (And yes I know that sweaters should be folded, not hung up). I decided to try out the double sweater look, just for kicks, and I decided that I liked it enough to wear it all day.

I own a few hats, but I never seem to wear them. As I was walking through my closet, I spied my purple hat and decided that it was time to wear it. (Hence these photos).

When I say that I walked "through" my closet, I don't mean that my closet is so big that I can prance around in it. The closet is merely a passage-way from the bedroom to the bathroom, and is not as big as it looks. When the man and I were looking at apartments, we almost rented one that had two huge separate closets for us both. However, said apartment was not in the middle of the fun that we live in now, and it was going to be a bit more expensive. Maybe one day I'll actually photograph my closet for the blogging world to see.

Purple and Orange

I am slowly trying to add more cardigans to my closet, because let's face it, they can really make an outfit. In this outfit I'm wearing the cardigan that I got on Black Friday for $10. What, What?!

I knew when I got dressed on this particular day, that I wanted to wear this cardigan, but I was having a difficult time deciding what to wear under it. I really like this burnt orange color, but I kept going through my clothes without finding anything that inspired me. Then I realized that my closet is crammed to the brim with clothing, and that I would find something to wear, I just had to go through every item instead of just scanning the rack. Then I had an epiphany that orange and purple should go together so I went through the purple section of my closet and found this sleeve-less shirt. (Yes, my clothes are color coordinated).

This is why I want a closet big enough that it can hold all of my clothes, without the items being smashed together. Whenever the man and I look at potential houses for the future, the first thing I think about is converting the smallest room in the house into my grand walk in closet. He may think that I'm silly, but hey, a girl's got to dream.

How do you ever find anything in your closet?

Leopard and Wine

This leopard cardigan is another item that I got at the clothing swap that I attended. I have worn it this way a few times, and I have also worn it with my black jeans and a colored shirt under it. I really like how versatile this cardigan can be, and of course, I love the leopard. The outfit that I am wearing in these photos is actually what I wore on Thanksgiving, I just never took any pictures of it.

I have some great news.....I am starting a new job soon! (yay!) However, I will be wearing scrubs to work, so I have a feeling that I won't be posting my outfits as often on this blog. I will be able to wear nail polish, so maybe I'll start trying to do fun things with my nails to make up for my lack of outfit creativity. I am very excited to start my new job, but I am sad that I won't be wearing fun clothes as much anymore. Because I'll be honest, after a day of work, I usually like to come home and put sweat pants on. Lol.

Work Christmas Party

The man's work Christmas party was this past weekend, and we had a great time as usual. I always try my best to have us ooze the Christmas spirit when we go to this party. I had another outfit planned for the event, but I decided that it just wasn't festive enough. I was hoping that the man would wear a green tie to match my dress, but he really wanted to wear red. Oh well, we still screamed Christmas. :)

Please excuse the craziness of the pictures as they were taken with an iPhone and the lighting was not great. There was a photographer running around taking photos, but I don't have any of those photos now, so you get these instead. :)

Notice all of the Poinsettias is the background? Well the house is filled with them, and they are gifts for us to take home after the party.

Waiting for the elevator.

I love this purse! It was a gift from my wonderful friend for being in her bridal party this past fall.

The hotel room shot. The man's boss always gets hotel rooms for the employees who want them so that no one has to drink and drive. He also rents a shuttle for us, to and from the hotel and party.

This was from when I was trying to decide on what dress to get for the party. I realized that I didn't have a good shot of the "fun side" of the dress, so I had to show a picture of the dressing room.

FAKE EYELASHES!! This year I decided to be silly and wear fake eyelashes. Now I should have trimmed them down so that they would look semi-real, but I decided not to. I decided that the extreme length of these lashes needed to be worn in full. They were extremely easy to apply, and just as easy to take off. I used my tweezers to help me place them perfectly.

This pair cost me...................$1. Yup. $1 for reusable fake eyelashes. They are from the ELF make-up line at Target. Heck, for $1, you could buy multiple pairs and never re-use them.

My dress came from  JcPenny, my shoes from Payless, and my tights are from Target. ($8 from Target, recent, and they have so many colors).

My jewelry is all "old", as in I didn't buy any of it for this party. My rings are the rings that I always wear, my earrings are my diamond studs that the man gave me for Christmas a few years ago, and my necklace is the diamond circle that I wear occasionally.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

Simple

I don't know about you, but I love wearing blue during the holiday season. I know that red and green are your standard Christmas colors, but I feel like the color blue fits into the holiday category as well. I think of a winter wonder land full of snow and icicles, and therefore blue fits in perfectly with the winter theme.

I don't feel like there is really anything special about this outfit, but it was comfortable and I like the brightness of the teal blue sweater shirt that I wore.

Utter Tragedy

My heart goes out not only to the families affected by the shooting in Connecticut today, but to all parents. I do not have children, but I can only imagine how it feels to be a parent at this moment.

I want to thank all of the teachers and staff who were at the school during the shooting. There is one picture that continues to be shown on the news of a teachers leading students out of the school, in a line. The amount of control that she shows in the photo is unbelievable as you know that she is scared out of her mind, yet she continues to do her job by leading her charges to safety.

I was able to watch President Obama give his speech about this tragedy, and it brought tears to my eyes to see him have to stop to compose himself. Throughout the rest of his speech, you could see tears in his eyes. I cannot imagine how hard it was to give that speech, not only as the President of the United States, but also as a father. No matter what your political affiliations are, it is good to have a President that truly cares about this loss, and is dedicated to helping the victims families.

Please give you children, young siblings, and friend's children extra hugs and kisses tonight.

Pinspired Outfit

This outfit was completely inspired by Bree over at Dream in Fashion. When I saw her outfit, I knew that I had to immediately recreate it (on the same day). Since I do no own cognac boots, I decided to go with a pop of color instead of reaching for my dark brown boots. I liked how she paired this outfit with a short necklace, and decided that my new gold collar necklace from Express would be perfect for this outfit.

I will be honest, layering clothes is something that I am still relatively new at doing. I am always looking for "new" ways to style my clothes, and this is just one reason why I love Pintrest. Currently, I do not own very many sweaters so I feel limited in my options, but I will not let this stop me in my quest for cute outfits. When I was in Target the other day, I noticed that they had a bunch of chunky cable knit sweaters in stock.  ( Too bad I'm on a budget right now, lol).

I'm excited for this weekend as the man's work Christmas party is on Saturday night. I have always had a great time at this party, and I'm hoping that this year is no exception. This year I wasn't going to dress up as fancy as I normally do, but then a few of his female co-workers asked me what I would wearing this year. I had no idea anyone really looked at my outfits at these parties, much less remembered what I was wearing.  Once I heard this, I knew that I couldn't let them down. I went over to JcPennys to see if they had anything that would work as a fun holiday outfit. Stay tuned as I will reveal my outfit sometime next week!

Have a great weekend.

Color Color Everywhere!

This outfit was completely inspired by Kendi Everday. Her mix of cobalt blue and purple really stood out to me as a fun winter combo. I know that these colors aren't what you would typically wear during the fall/winter days, but I just couldn't help myself. I feel like I pranced around all day because I was so in love with my outfit.

Is there a color that you just can't stop wearing even though that it isn't "seasonal"?

Burgundy Boots Everywhere

In case you haven't noticed, I am in love with these boots. I made a little mash-up towards the end of the post with all of the outfits that I have created while wearing these boots. (I'm having issues making the collage   appear bigger on the blog. Sorry!) There are three outfits in the collage that haven't actually been blogged about yet, but I felt like giving you a little sneak peak.

I thought that in today's outfit post I should include an outfit wearing said boots. This shirt came from my black Friday shopping trip at Express (during the 50% off sale). I love the lace detailing at the top of the shirt because, well, I just love  lace. I'm usually not a big fan of graphic designs on clothing, but I am loving this rose. I feel like it is a rocker shirt, but I'm not really sure that a rose and lace classifies as "rocker". Haha. I'm excited to mix it up for another outfit soon.

As I looked closer to this outfit, I realized that I'm almost wearing all Express clothing. What can I say, I really like that store.

Clothing Recap

What an amazing weekend in the beautiful state of South Carolina. The man and I went down South to visit some family friends. He grew up with them, so they really are like extended family, and we don't get to see them very often as they live 8 hours away. I'm not going to lie, I am jealous of the warm weather that is still going on down there. I ran around in short-sleeves and flats instead of my typical boots and sweater outfits. Most of my outfits were repeats (see last blog post) or simple shirts and jeans, and not really blog post worthy. (They have two babies so fashion wasn't my main focus of the weekend).

Today's post is of an outfit that I wore sometime last week. The shirt and sweater are both from the clothing swap that I attended about a month ago. I have also included a small collage of the three times that I blogged about my Mint Capri Pants. I definitely wore them more than three times this year, but since I only started blogging in September, I only have three documented times of wearing them. As I find time, I'll try to put together a recap of some of my clothes from this past year (or rather the past four months).

Old outfit new location

So I know that I have already worn this outfit before and blogged about it. However we are in the lovely state of South Carolina visiting some friends and the weather here is amazing. I was so excited to be able to wear short sleeves and flats again, so I decided that I'd just show you a nice repeat. Hope you have a great weekend!
