Green Snakes

Okay, so there are no actual green snakes in this post. But I am wearing green and snake print pants, so the title stands.

I've been taking some pictures of my clothes for my Go Chic or Go Home page, and decided that I needed to wear this shirt ASAP. I was thinking about adding my white vest with the outfit, but that will have to be for another day.

I really liked the brightness of the shirt with the rest of the outfit , and thought that my new Francesca's necklace went perfectly with it.

New outfit! Old Clothes...

The man and I decided to fore-go a home-cooked meal and go out last night. (It happens when you don't pre-plan a meal and you live about multiple restaurants. They may or may-not recognize us these days when we walk in the door).

I had come home from work and already had my sweatpants on, but the moment the man said "Let's go out", I ran to my closet. Now I think that I would like this outfit even more without the leggings, but I wasn't about to go out without SOMETHING on my legs.

I love finding new ways to wear my clothes. It definitely helps me curb my shopping cravings.

I'm honestly not sure where this bracelet came from. More than likely Myrna's Boots 'n' bits

Staying Warm

I love cardigans...and I pretty much only started wearing them this year. (Hence the fact that I own about three of them). Occasionally when I'm getting dressed, I focus on one item or type of clothing, and base the rest of my outfit off of that. This outfit was based on the patterned shirt, and I didn't want to wear it like I had previously. (Which was styled as a shirt with pants...very creative, I know).  I knew that I needed some layers to stay warm, so I decided to try to add a cardigan with the shirt to see if it would work.

And that is how I came up with this outfit. Very scientific, I know.

Green Sweater Dress

I'm not sure what the temperature is like at your house, but it was COLD here over the weekend. Even though the weather was less than stellar, I was dead set on wearing a dress on Sunday. Every outfit I was picking out in my closet was a dress, but I kept putting them back because it was too cold. Then I spotted this sweater dress nicely folded up on my closet shelf....and I knew what I was going to wear. I have to be honest, I have never worn this outfit before. I bought it a few years ago, but I have never found an appropriate time to wear it. The dress itself is a heavy material, so I felt like the parts that it covered would always stay extremely warm, while my arms and legs would freeze.

Then I learned about putting leggings underneath a dress for the winter, and this outfit appeared. I had originally paired my tall dark brown boots with the outfit for added warmth, but then I figured that since most of my day would either be spent indoors or in a car, I could swap out my boots for my booties since they matched my belt.

I also had never unbuttoned the necklace of this dress, which felt like it really "opened up" the dress. (I didn't feel as stifled in the dress anymore.)

I'm not sure how else I will style this outfit, but I plan on trying to figure that out in the near future. Maybe I'll try adding a long-sleeve shirt under the dress, or maybe try adding a vest with it. Only time will tell...

A look inside my closet....

I thought that I would do a post on what I'm working with inside my closet. I don't have a whole "lotta" space to work with. The man has the other half of our walk-through closet, but luckily he gave me the slightly bigger side. My dream closet would hold my all of my clothes and accessories. And would boost an extra large mirror and would be painted a fun color.

I also thought that I'd show how I organize my closet, and what works best for me. You may notice that most of my hangers are facing backwards. Once I wear an item, I put the hanger back like normal. I do this to help me see what I am wearing, and what I should wear more often. If the hanger doesn't turn around after six months, I need to evaluate why I haven't worn the item. (It might not be seasonal). If the item goes unworn for a whole year, then I look into why I'm not wearing and if I need to get rid of it. Sometimes it is a sizing issue, other times I just can't figure out how to wear an item. The hanger method helps me to not keep wearing the same items over and over.

I couldn't back up far enough to take a shot of the whole closet, but I figured that you can see what I'm working with. To see individual pieces, go check out my Go Chic or Go Home page!

*All of these baskets came from either Bed Bath & Beyond or Target. I originally got them when I was in college, and they have been worth every penny.

ABOVE: These are my short sleeve shirts, tanks, and some of my long sleeve shirts. I keep the long sleeves and the short sleeves separated for better organization.  I try my best to keep them all color coordinated. The pile of clothes on the shelf are just a few of my sweaters. I also keep a few of my clutches up there. The basket full of stuff on the right is full of my old horse back riding stuff.

ABOVE: These are some of my long sleeve shirts, dresses, slacks, belts,  and skirts. I keep all of my belts on a belt hanger. I keep all of my sweatshirts and a few of my sweatpants up on the shelf. The little basket holds a random assortment of things that I don't have anywhere else to put them. Including some winter hats and jewelry certificates.

ABOVE: The "hat" wall. There are three fedoras under the straw one, and that one is actually the man's hat. He just doesn't have a cool hat wall on his side like I do. The feather looking thing that is hanging above my baseball caps is from the Renaissance Festival, and is really only worn at the festival. I've tried to find ways to wear it to other occasions, but it's not always easy finding a way to wear feathers on your head.

ABOVE: Yes that is a Border Collie calendar on my wall. (They are my favorite doggies!) I also have a few clutches hanging on my wall along with an across the body purse. The bags under the clutches are all of my purses, beach bags, and over night bags. Right now I am keeping my vests on the back of my half door. They just don't fit in my closet right now, haha.

ABOVE: My shoe collection! The basket holds my boot collection, and everything else goes on the shelves. My rain boots and tennis shoes stay on the floor, as they don't really fit anywhere else. You may see a few heels in there, which I don't really wear. I keep them around in hopes that I will start to wear them again. These shoe shelves were from Wal-mart.

ABOVE: I keep all of my non-fancy tank tops and cami's in this little plastic tub that stays under my bed. This piece use to fit into another piece that had a lid on it, but it broke and was bulky, so I got rid of it. This thing goes under my bed perfectly, which is a wonderful storage space. I have finally figured out the best way to fold all of my under shirts so that they fit in the tub just right.

I keep three other smaller plastic containers under my bed that hold socks and bathing suits. If you aren't using the space under your bed for storage space.....you should!

Polka Dots and Green

Last weekend I went to a Stella and Dot party hosted by one of my friends. I don't own anything by Stella and Dot, but I have seen many of their items throughout the blogging world. I am getting this bracelet in pink and in white. I was loving just about everything in the catalog and wanted it all.  However, like most women I know, I'm on a limited clothing budget so  had to take a step back and think about what I'm lacking in my jewelry. I realized that I own one pink item of jewelry: pink earrings. I really liked these little bangles so I decided that they would be mine!

This is the outfit that I wore the the Stella and Dot party. If I were to ever sell jewelry, I think this would be the stuff that I would want to sell!

100th Post!!

This is my 100th post! Yay for being able to come up with 100 different outfits in my closet. Okay, so that's not very many outfits when you consider all of the individual articles of clothing that I have in there. I had forgotten about this scarf, and I can't wait to find more ways to wear it during the spring!

Man  I really wish that I could be more creative in this post, but I'm beat. Hope you had a great Tuesday!

Purple and Teal....plus a sale!

SALE ALERT!! Francesca's Collections is having a buy one, get one 50% on new jewelry in their stores right now. Okay, so that is a common sale that goes on in that store. However, they are also having a buy one thing on clearance, and get something else on clearance for free. The clearance sale is store wide, so you may want to go check out a store near you. I had gotten a gift card to Francesca's for Christmas, so I had a lot of fun over the weekend shopping in the store. The man and I were meeting his dad and little sister for lunch near our local Francesca's store, so after lunch us girls went shopping! We told to boys to go find something to do because we were going to be a while. Haha.

**THIS POST CONTAINS MANY PHOTOS!!**

While I was shopping, I found a necklace that I thought went better with my outfit than the necklace that I wore when walked out of the door that morning.

Wearing the necklace that I bought while shopping.

I purchased two necklaces and two bracelets while shopping. The mint bracelet and the gray necklace were the regular priced items, and the purple and gold necklace and the black and gold bracelet were the clearance items.

Outfit, scrubs, and a dresser drawer

I wore this outfit a while ago, I just haven't posted it yet. I don't remember what I wore it to, but most likely I was running errands. Story of my life.

Sweater: Target
Pants: Old Navy
Boots: Candies by Khol's

I thought that I'd share a photo of my daily outfit of scrubs. I know that this looks awesome doesn't it? The long sleeve shirt underneath of my scrubs actually came from Target and was a total of $6. I wish that I would have gotten more than just this one because it is so comfortable. I'm actually wearing my work-out shoes, because I'm constantly running around.

I cleaned out my t-shirt drawer the other day. I try to keep them somewhat coordinated. I like to wear these shirts around the house or to the gym. Do most girls have dressers, or do they keep everything hung up in their closet? I keep my pants, shorts, and sweaters in my dresser, but none of my other "nice" clothes. Do you keep any of your other clothes in a dresser, or do you even have one?

Black and red-ish

The shirt that I'm wearing here is from the clothing swap that I attended a while ago. I really like this shirt, but I'm not always sure how to style it without repeating the same look again. All I did this time was add a cardigan and change my boots. Maybe next time I'll try to switch up the pants or something.
